My name is Yigal Ismakov and I'm a photographer based out of New York City. 

My passion is street and city photography as well as capturing candid moments and expressions in interesting environments.

I have had a deep fascination with photography from a very early childhood. I was born in the former Soviet Union, where photography was not considered to be an art form and was not taught in institutions of higher education - therefore I never considered photography as a possible career choice back then.  However, a camera has always been by my side. Every time I pick it up, I'm overwhelmed with excitement. The feeling is still the same as it was 40 years ago, when I first experienced the weight of a bulky Soviet-made camera, looked through the viewfinder and played with various knobs and settings on my uncle's camera.

Photography is my true passion!

I use both digital and film cameras and I feel that both formats have their advantages and strengths.
